Description

Locust Inc.'s revolutionary Merc System is designed to be highly versatile and customizable. The company rarely distributes fully equipped weapons systems (unless by special order). Instead the consumer is encouraged to tailor the weapon to meet their own needs. Qualified Locust Technicians are available 24/7 across the universe to assist you.

The Merc Snipe System, dubbed the Grasshopper during development, was for a limited time distributed by Locust Inc. to introduce its new Plasma Power system upgrade to the public. A departure from its standard energy unit the plasma upgrade drastically increased the weapons range in none atmospheric environments. This was due to the fact that the weapon fired a liquid state projectile rather than a high intensity beam common with the Enerite System. Buying the Merc Snipe System was also the only way to initially purchase the highly anticipated Plasma Power system upgrade.

It was coupled with the top selling Locust Scatterall Barrel. The Scatterall is compatible with both energy systems and produces a scatter effect much like a traditional shotgun with both projectile types. The Merc Snipe System has a much greater range than a traditional shotgun but due to the Scatterall it is not as far reaching or accurate as a standard energy or plasma rifle. Nevertheless It was a great combat configuration for the weapon system and was widely sought after at the time of its release.

Locus essentially produced a hybrid between a shotgun and rifle and invented a new class of mid range weaponry. It is the only Merc System package that Locust Inc. has ever distributed with the Plasma Power system pre-installed rather than the corporations standard Enerite System. This has made the weapon highly valued amongst collectors.
